Lydia is giggling and laughing because auntie Ruby is playing stickers with her after dinner. Auntie Ruby and uncle Kurt gave Lydia a sticker book tonight that had hundreds of stickers.

Note: We met the Lohmanns at the annual Bethany Christian Services brunch in early December 2008 and learned that they were in the process of adopting their first child from China.

Uncle Steven and auntie Tammy (the Chew family) observe as Lydia opens and examines Christmas gifts that they gave to us.
Note: Steven, Tammy, and Nicholas, their teenage son who is a sophomore in high school, could not join us for Christmas lunch because they could not get out of their neighborhood because of the ice and snow.

Note: Kelvin is to her immediate left, and to his left is Amanda. Lauren, who is wearing the blue jacket, is at the top right of the picture.

Lydia is carrying the big pink dog to show to Greg and Mary Dietsch.
Note: SiowFong has known both Greg and Mary, long time friends, for 17 years. We planned on meeting with them at our home for in December 2008, but the snow and ice forced a postponement of that gathering until today.

Lydia is hugging and smelling Tiger while sitting in auntie Mary's lap.
Note: Auntie Mary and uncle Greg gave Lydia her beloved Tiger in August 2007.

Before Tiger became Lydia's favorite stuffed animal, there was "Lamby". This pink lamb soft toy was one of Lydia's favorites for months and was also a gift from the Dietschs to Lydia in February 2007.

Stretching her arms as far as they will reach, Lydia responds to her mom's question, "How much do you love me?"
Note: Lydia's answer reminds me of the verse in the Bible that speaks of the depth of God's forgiveness since Psalms 103:12 says, 'As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.'"

Lydia and her mom are playing a game with their hands before lunch arrives.
Note: Both of these pictures were taken on January 10, 2009 at the Olive Garden Italian restaurant in Lynnwood, Washington.

Photos: Birthday, KFC Dinner, Wee Family Tradition Drumstick

DSC_0293
For Lydia's birthday dinner, SiowFong bought Kentucky Fried Chicken for her since Lydia enjoys holding the drumstick as she eats it and since she also likes eating the corn on the cob.
Note: Flanking the plate on Lydia's high chair table are two of the four Dora the Explorer birthday cards that family members and friends sent to her. Two came from Melbourne, Australia as her auntie MayLee sent one and uncle Tony and auntie Janice mailed another. The third originated from Courtland, Virginia as aunty Joyce and uncle Clyde (the Aldermans) sent one to her, and the last came from northern Virginia courtesy of auntie Ginny and uncle Johnny.

Does Lydia look like a birthday queen today?
Note: In Lydia's day care, the teachers celebrate a child's birthday by giving the child a birthday crown. SiowFong brought mini muffins for the children in Lydia's class today, so Rajni, Lydia's teacher, held a class birthday party for Lydia.

On her third birthday, Lydia holds the container with the three Super Sleuth motorcycles (two of the characters of Super Sleuths include Winnie the Pooh and Tigger).
Note: Thom and Kimberly Powell, adoptive parents of two daughters from China (Page and Renee) and the sponsors for Lydia before we adopted her, mailed Lydia two presents to Lydia that arrived yesterday.

Lydia's second gift from the Powells was a Tigger the Tiger plate.
Note: SiowFong took both of these pictures around 7:00 AM on January 8, 2009 in the living room of our home.

Lydia is holding one of the Dora the Explorer birthday cards that she received. To her right are three Super Sleuth cars in the Winnie the Pooh DVD series bearing that name as these are a birthday gift from Thom and Kimberly Powell, our friends in Dallas, Texas who sponsored Lydia prior to her adoption.

Lydia is holding one of the two hard boiled eggs that her mom made for Lydia's breakfast this morning. Just in front of Lydia are two of her mom's egg cups.

Lydia is eagerly eating one hard boiled egg while holding both eggs.
Note: When Lydia's mom was growing up in Batu Pahat, Malaysia, Ma Wee (Lydia's maternal grandmother [or "pour pour"]) celebrated her children's birthday with a breakfast consisting of two hard boiled eggs.

The Tigger plate in the high chair is another present from the Powells.
Note: SiowFong took all of these pictures on January 8, 2008 between 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM in the dining room of our home.
