Play Date with Daniela Tejada

April 9, 2008

Play Date with Daniela Tejada

Most of Lydia’s play dates are with her peers, children whose age is within six months to a year of her own age. Today, however, was different when Daniela Tejada came to our home accompanied by her mother, Erika Tejada, and her maternal grandmother, Sonia Cano, for a play date, a lunch, and a portrait session. Daniela, who turns nine months of age later this month, is about a year and a half younger than Lydia, and both knew each other as Lydia had gone to Daniela’s home for two prior play dates, one earlier this year and one in November 2007.

Daniela’s favorite activity today during the play time was watching the Let Your Music Shine video entitled “A Play Date with Brahms”. Lydia played independently, but she kept her attention on Daniela. While Erika primarily met Daniela’s needs, Sonia played with Lydia, which brought a lot of smiles and laughs to Lydia’s face.

After lunch, which consisted of Brunswick stew, it was time for some formal pictures of Daniela and then more play time. By the time the Tejada family departed around 2:00 PM, Lydia was elated but exhausted from the day’s activities as was Daniela, who had fallen asleep at our home.
